Nicola Costantino
Nicola Costantino (Rosario, 1964) is one of the most relevant artists of her generation. She is a trained sculptor, although her work presents multiple formats. She lives and works in Buenos Aires.
Cochon sur canapé (1992), her first individual exhibition, is considered a precursor of contemporary Latin American art. In 2004 she presented Animal Motion Planet, Savon de Corps.
Her interest in video performance led her to create the self-referential work Trailer (2010), her first cinematographic production, and to address a paradigmatic female historical character such as Eva Perón in Rapsodia Inconclusa, an installation with which she represented Argentina in the 55th Biennial. Venice, 2013. 2014 was dedicated to the filming of the biographical film La Artefacta. Since the pandemic, Nicola has dedicated herself to ceramics, rescuing ancient techniques and starting Pardes, her ceramic art project inspired by the plant universe. Her most recent work is Artista ex-machina, a scenic-musical work performed at the CETC of the Teatro Colón.
